We provide high quality professional dog walking services to our diverse Calgary clientele.
At Runs With Rover, we can relate to the fact that your dog is a loved member of your family. If you didn’t love your dog, you surely wouldn’t hire us to get them out of the house for some exercise and socialization. We also recognize that although anatomically similar, our psychology is quite different. Humans are emotional beings, and we use a combination of communication methods automatically without even noticing. Canines live in the moment (don’t hold grudges) and communicate almost entirely with body language. Instinctively, dogs are pack animals, and they establish a hierarchy almost instantly upon meeting. There is a leader and followers. Our goal is to be confident, calm, and assertive (not aggressive!) to establish dominance as the pack leader right from the start. This is done via subtle body language and the appropriate level of intensity (projecting energy).
Helen’s love for dogs is boundless. With a leash in one hand and a heart full of compassion, she strides through parks and neighborhoods, bringing joy to every wagging tail she encounters. Helen’s mornings begin with a chorus of excited barks, as her furry clients eagerly await their daily adventure.
No weather can deter Helen from her mission. Raindrops dance on her umbrella as she leads a spirited pack through puddles. On sunny days, she revels in the warmth, tossing tennis balls and sharing belly rubs. Snowy parks? No problem—Helen’s boots leave paw prints alongside her furry friends.
Jazz is a challenging dog that was rescued from a difficult environment. After unsuccessful experiences with two other dog-walking companies, we found Gillian more than five years ago. Our dog bonded with her immediately and that doesn’t happen often! Right from the beginning, Gillian handled her with kindness, a calm manner, consistency and skill. Jazz used to back away in fear when our first dog walkers arrived. Now she lays at the door looking out the window awaiting Gillian’s arrival each walk day.
Jazz is a well-loved family member and we feel so comfortable when she drives away in the back of Gillian’s truck because we know she’ll be cared for and kept safe. We have plenty of time to walk Jazz ourselves (and we do walk her each day) but the socialization and training that Gillian provides will keep us booking walks for Jazz indefinitely!
Gillian is a special lady who loves her job… and it shows!

Meet Gillian
When I was grooming I had the opportunity to rescue one of the more troubled dogs that came into the shop. This is where I met my pup, Kia. Her previous owner rescued her and owned her for one month. She brought her in for a groom and Kia was in a terrible state, both physically and mentally. She was overweight, matted, filthy, aggressive and mentally unbalanced. She was no stranger to a muzzle. When her owner informed me that she was contemplating euthanizing her because she was “too difficult to control”, I immediately told her “I’ll take her”. She was so desperate to give up on Kia that she paid me $50 and we never looked back. We headed for home and had to overcome another obstacle…the boyfriend. Kia was a “typical rescue” and was not fond of men (or shiny floors), both of which were part of her new home. It took a lot of hard work and dedication but she finally settled in at her forever home.
In my time away from walking dogs, I enjoy spending time with my nieces and doing various outdoor activities. I play on a competitive fastball team, do a lot of camping and head out to the mountains whenever I get the chance.
Walking dogs is definitely the perfect job for me!
